Default Dire to wussy?

I was just wondering once ive made my pet dire, is it possible to make him not dire like elder or something by dying too many times? It takes a while to raise a pet to dire i just want to be sure it stays dire.

actually dire animals are not manly at all.
they die very easily and use cheap, dishonorable tactics like having 15% more dmg.
it may be brave, but it'll take a lot more than bravery to be called tough and manly in my book.

Are you evolving your pet the hard way? Or the easy way?

I have a related question. I death levelled a melandru's stalker for many hours (many times, actually, first time I accidentally teleported out to my guild hall. -_- Second time, I must have accidentally hit one of my F-keys and equipped a bow and killed it, third time, I got it to "Dire" and just charmed it before getting it to 20) I've been terrified that it will devolve to aggressive or elder, because I read one way to get an elder pet is to evolve it to aggressive, charm it, and then just take it around with you and it will devolve to elder. I'm sure mine will be fine because anytime I'm away from home for a while, I leave my game connected and I just have him attack the master of healing so that he has a target to infinitely damage to keep his dire-ness. But I just wanted clarification, if the pet is not yet level 20, can it devolve? (I know once it's 20, it won't change, but what about before then?)

"Once your pet has evolved the second time to dire it doesn't matter how you continue to level it up, as evolutions cannot be reversed. "

From http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Guid...ing_a_Dire_Pet

Pets evolve at level 11 and 15, and thats it(99% of the time), so theres no need to worry..

Wow, I thought I was familiar with that page, but apparently I didn't read it well enough! And to think I've been wasting all this time attacking that stupid Master of Healing to make sure my cat didn't devolve! Haha, I am silly!
